Description

The successful mixture of luck of the dice and tactics has made this game very successful in many countries over the centuries.
Little is known about the origin and spread of this family of games. The Greek Pente Grammai (7th century BC) can certainly be counted among its predecessors. The same applies to the Roman Ludus Duodecim Scriptorum (7th century AD). There are pictorial references in the Carmina Burana and in the Libro de las Tablas (13th century). This game was played all over the world. For example, in Persia under the name Nard, in Spain under the name Todas Tablas or under the names Seys Dos e As and Cab quinal.
